OK you got a bunch of drawings, pictures, ideas, etc and of course you want to put them on t shirts, mugs or any other random item you can think of. What other reason could you have to be reading this post right?
Well opening your store is by far the most easy part of the ride, the challenge here is the time and dedication you have to put in to promote it (we will get into that later). The very first thing you need to do is decide which service provider of Print on Demand you want and there is several, personally I use two of them:
Why I use two of them? because each of them offers different product to print on besides the fact that allows me to “cover more ground” on the internet marketplace (which is huge), so plain simple: more products & more visibility, It´s all about the numbers.
So really is up to you which provider you use, just type “print on demand t shirts” on your search engine and you will find several to choose from.
Once you have decided make sure you cover this check list:
1.Open an account: this will include choosing a name for your store and a sub domain to be the address ( http://www.zazzle.com/theicecreamsandwich ). please choose a name wisely, customer probably wont take you seriously if your store is called “I´m bored” or any other random name you type in thinking -Its all about putting products there- customer need to feel its a real store.
2. Set up real & serious contact info on your profile: that way you can be notified when a sale is made or a customer needs to reach you and BY ALL MEANS do open an e-mail address just for your new business, customer wont take you seriously if your e-mail address is “the_crazy_guy69@…” the one you used to have at school… This is a business and you never know who is about to contact you.
3. Make sure you “stock” your store properly: Not only you need to have several designs (drawings, pictures, phrases, -depending on your thing-) but also make sure you have as many items as you can with your design on it. Maybe you don’t find appealing that random design on a mug but maybe someone do! Its hard to tell people tastes, so don’t miss the chance to make a sale just because “Its not your thing” unless of course you are totally convince that your design will look horrible on the item or is not compatible.
And that’s it! now of course comes the real work of promoting your store, drive traffic and keep people interested in your stuff
